Christian Bale was spotted in Australia with a shaved head for the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder, teasing his role as the primary antagonist Gorr the God Butcher, in the upcoming movie.
Bale is just one among the many stars coming back for the film, which is currently deep in the midst of production in Sydney.
In new photos revealed by news outlet Daily Mail, Bale can be seen with a shaved head walking down Sydney’s Palm Beach taking a break from filming. As his role requires him to be there for the full duration of filming, it seems like he is still in the middle of production.
His fellow co-stars, like Jaimie Alexander, who reprises her role as Lady Sif, have already left Australia, which means they’re done with filming their part for the movie.
Others returning for the God of Thunder’s fourth solo outing are Natalie Portman (Jane Foster aka. Mighty Thor), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), and the entirety of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast.
Christian Bale is known for being extremely passionate and devoted to his roles, both physically and in character. It seems his role for Thor: Love and Thunder will be no different.
Bale is set to play Gorr the God Butcher, and judging by his new look, the character could have heavy prosthetics and makeup applied, or use of CGI effects in the post-production. But, either way, his portrayal of Gorr will be very much in line with the comic version, it seems.
Even though there have been some leaks from the set of the upcoming movie, details regarding the plot remain unknown.
Taika Waititi, who is returning to direct the movie following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, will have to merge the contrasting plots involving Jane Foster taking on the Mighty Thor mantle, character development for the God of Thunder, and an appearance by the Guardians.
However, in terms of fan anticipation, the response towards the upcoming movie has been less than satisfactory. This seems to be due to the increased hype surrounding the multiverse trilogy, which started with the highly acclaimed WandaVision (2021) and includes the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
Nonetheless, with its early 2022 release date approaching, Thor: Love and Thunder could be promising, with the combination of Bale’s flawless acting and Waititi’s impeccable directing.
About Thor: Love and Thunder
Thor: Love and Thunder is a MCU movie and the fourth installation in the Thor series. It is directed by Ragnarok’s director, Taika Waititi, and will show Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprising their roles as Thor Odinson and Dr. Jane Foster.
The movie will be based on The Mighty Thor comics in which Thor Odinson loses the ability to lift Mjolnir, and Jane Foster takes on the role of Mighty Thor. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor teams up with The Guardians of the Galaxy for a short time, leaving Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard. But Thor returns to team up with Korg, Valkyrie and Jane’s Mighty Thor to take down Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) – before he takes out all the gods in existence.
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson return for Watiti’s second go, while Russell Crowe and Natalie Portaman join Taika’s project for the first time. The movie is out on July 8, 2022.
