The first look poster for Disney’s Peter Pan and Wendy is out now and it presents a new look at the reinvented classic. The live-action fantasy will premiere on Disney+ in 2023.
The film is based on J.M Barrie’s 1911 iconic fairy tale, Peter Pan or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. Disney previously adapted Barrie’s classic tale into the 1953 animated film, Peter Pan. The new film’s cast includes several familiar faces, including Jude Law as Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, and Jim Gaffigan as Smee.
It also introduces some new faces, such as Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy, Joshua Pickering as John, and Jacobi Jupe as Michael. The film will be helmed by acclaimed director, David Lowery, who has previously directed films like A Ghost Story, The Green Knight, and The Old Man and The Gun.
As part of the Disney 2023 Expo, Disney just revealed the first Peter Pan and Wendy poster, presenting a new look at the updated Disney characters. The poster features a two-masted ship in the middle of the sea, sailing through beautiful clouds.
The magical children, Peter Pan and Wendy, can be seen swinging atop the masts. Check out the poster below:
The poster is dreamlike, revealing only a small part of the updated aesthetic of the live-action adaptation. Though the updated characters are kept at a distance with little to no focus on them, the composition of the clouds and the silhouettes of the children aptly present the magical atmosphere of the film.
Lowery has previously proved with Pete’s Dragon, his previous collaboration with Disney, that he can handle live-action Disney adaptations with stunning visuals and cinematography. At the same time, he is able to preserve his signature indie-filmmaking style.
Disney has not officially announced a release date for Peter Pan and Wendy yet, but the film is expected to premiere on Disney+ in mid-2023. Hopefully, the upcoming posters, teaser, and trailer will give us a better glimpse at the updated Disney characters.
