New Mr. Bean Animated Movie in the Works!

Mr Bean has always been a part of our childhood, be it as the animated version or the Rowan Atkinson live-action sitcom.

So, while the live-action version has halted all production since 1995, the animated series is set to make a comeback.

Rowan Atkinson is coming back with an animated film on our childhood favorite, Mr Bean. He says that he would prefer working on the animated character instead of the live-action one.

Atkinson had planned and developed the character while he pursuing his master’s degree at Oxford University. His ideas came to life when the live-action sitcom aired back in the ’90s. Mr Bean even resulted in two movies and a long-running animated series out of it.

However, in an interview with RadioTimes, the 66-year-old mentioned that he hated performing for the live-action role. He said it was stressful and exhausting to perform for the sitcom.

He said he always prefers voicing the animated character, especially now, given the responsibility of performing such a challenging role at his age.

“It’s easier for me to perform the character vocally than visually. I don’t much enjoy playing him. The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting and I look forward to the end of it.” Atkinson said.

As disappointing as it may be, I’m sure we all appreciate how complex the role of Mr Bean was. Considering how long Atkinson had to pull funny faces, it is understandable that he feels exhausted while performing the role.

Further in the interview, he said how he can’t wait to be done with playing Mr Bean, indicating that the current animated film that he’s working on might be the last we’d see of Atkinson in the Mr Bean franchise.

He’s ready to move on from the character to newer projects and roles. It might be a disappointment to the fans but all we can do is hope for the best.
