In October last year, Showtime announced that Dexter would return for a 10-episode limited series. Now, Dexter‘s official Twitter account has revealed the serial killer’s new identity and job in a new tweet.
In the image captioned, “Hello, Dexter Morgan Jim Lindsay,” we see an ID card with Dexter’s face above the name Jim Lindsay and his position as Sales Associate for a company named Fred’s Fish & Game.
Season 9 is set in the fictional town of Iron Lake, New York. On April 29, Showtime dropped a teaser titled “Misunderstood” for the much-anticipated upcoming season, with Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” playing in the background.

Leaving the original setting of Miami, Florida, Season 9 is expected to be darker than the previous seasons. Jamie Chung, who will play Molly, a true-crime podcaster from Los Angeles, told People in an interview what fans can expect from the reboot.
The original series happened over 10 years ago. So, there’s certainly a different vibe of the way the actual show is shot in terms of the aesthetic. I do think it’s a little darker… I think it will certainly satisfy everyone’s appetite, especially if you’re a big Dexter fan.
After its debut in 2006, Dexter became one of Showtime’s most popular series, with Michael C. Hall in the role of the anti-hero serial killer Dexter Morgan. After eight seasons, Dexter had one of the most controversial endings in TV history.
In the final episode, Dexter faked his own death after the demise of his sister, Debra, and became a lumberjack in Oregon.
In January 2021, Hall talked to ET Online about why it was time to bring Dexter back, nearly eight years after wrapping the original series.
I’ve been approached, unofficially, many times in the streets by people who have ideas. But I think there have been probably, before this, three legitimate ideas or concepts of what we might do, and none of them felt right.
This one, a lot of it has to do with time passed. This is going to happen in real-time… And yeah, we kind of just got the creative band back together again. Clyde Phillips is back, who was the showrunner for the first four seasons, running the show. And Marcos Siega, who is one of the directors.
I always thought maybe the time will reveal itself when it’s the right time to do it, and it did. And I’m excited. I was just visiting the sets the other day, and it’s real. It’s really happening.

About Dexter
Dexter is a cult classic crime drama series that first aired on Showtime. The show’s first season was derived from the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), the first in a series of novels by Jeff Lindsay. It was adapted for television by James Manos Jr., who wrote the first episode. Subsequent seasons evolved independently of Lindsay’s works.
Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is introduced as a serial killer who kills other killers who have escaped from, or haven’t been found by the justice system. By day he is a blood spatter analyst who works for the Homicide Department of the Miami Metro Police.
