Warner Bros. and Legendary have released a new poster for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong movie that shows the two iconic creatures locking eyes.
Godzilla vs. Kong‘s promotion strategy is in full swing as the film’s release date inches closer. Following the path of all of the Warner pictures this year, Godzilla vs. Kong is also set to be broadcasted both in theaters and on the streaming platform HBO Max. Subscribers to HBO Max can stream Godzilla vs. Kong at zero additional cost.
The Godzilla franchise has been operating for decades and comprises a few varied timelines. There have been previous crossovers in the franchise with King Kong, with the 1962 movie King Kong vs. Godzilla, which rendered Kong the winner. Godzilla vs. Kong will take place five years after the incidents of Godzilla: King of Monsters. From what can be inferred from the trailers, the movie’s plot will be precise as the title says, “two giant monsters duking it out on screen.”
Warner Bros. and Legendary have really accentuated the idea of this clash with this recently published poster. No live actors have been cast here, just two digitally generated creatures giving each other vicious glares. The poster also promotes the March 31 release date of the film.
While some are excited for Godzilla vs. Kong to be published, others worry whether the movie will live up to the buildup. The movie Godzilla: King of Monsters previously earned backlash from fans. However, Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard seemingly did not revamp the idea for his film at all, communicating belief in his proficiency to create a story distinct from Michael Dougherty’s endeavor.
Warner Bros. has been able to boost the hype for their movie by building up the rivalry between the giants, preparing them to choose between Team Kong and Team Godzilla. The movie is one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, and posters such as this make it apparent what the movie will entail,” two big monsters, ready to fight, and wreak havoc.”
