It’s finally here! Marvel Studios just dropped the first poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Gamora seems to be back on the intergalactic team. But, as we know, she’s not the same Gamora we’ve come to fear and love. So what does that mean for the Guardians? We’ll get to that soon!
Marvel Studios took to Twitter to share the awaited threequel’s first poster, which is releasing in mid-2023. See the full poster below:
The original team has added three other members along the way – Sean Gunn’s Kraglin, Karen Gillan’s Nebula, and Cosmo the Spacedog, voiced by Maria Bakalova. Peter will lead his team on a mission to defend their own while tackling his emotional turmoil over losing the love of his life.
The team lost Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War after Thanos sacrificed her for the soul stone. But a younger version of Gamora joined the fight against the purple Titan in Avengers: Endgame and disappeared after his defeat. We’ll see the same Gamora from Endgame in the 2023 film, but she won’t be joining the team instantly.
According to the trailer, released along with the poster, Gamora will join the team somewhere in the movie, but we’ll first see her leading the Ravagers. Guess that’s what she’s been doing since she’s come to the future and why we didn’t see her in Thor 4 or Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
How and why Gamora joins the team again will only be revealed on May 5, 2023, but we have some ideas. Perhaps Peter tries to get closer to her and get her to fall in love with him again and thus proposes she join the team.
Or maybe he intends to steer clear of her but has no choice but to recruit the skilled ex-assassin in their quest to save the team from Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock, created and sent by Ayesha to destroy the Guardians.
Another theory floating around suggests the Ravagers’ leader joins them to fight off Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary, but this is the least possible as it is unlikely for Gamora to rejoin a team she never meets in the first place.
Whatever the reason, it will all be disclosed in the final Guardians of the Galaxy film, releasing in theaters on May 5, 2023.
