On January 30, the official website for Kadokawa’s Gamera -Rebirth– Project debuted a teaser trailer for the project. The teaser confirms that the project will be an anime consisting of 6 episodes and focusing on the titular Gamera fighting five Kaiju.
The website also revealed a key visual for the anime, featuring Gyaos, one of the kaiju that Gamera will fight in the anime. The anime will stream worldwide on Netflix.
It was revealed that Kazunori Itou, the writer of the three Heisei-era Gamera films, is penning the script for the new anime. The anime will be directed by Shuusuke Kaneko, who directed the Heisei films as well.
The fire-breathing turtle monster Gamera was first introduced to audiences in Daiei’s 1965 film Daikaiju Gamera. The 12th and most recent film in the franchise was Chiisaki Yūsha-tachi ~Gamera~ (Gamera the Brave) in 2006.
About Gamera -Rebirth-
Gamera -Rebirth- is an upcoming project by Kadokawa featuring the fire-breathing turtle monster, Gamera. The work will stream worldwide on Netflix.
It will follow the giant flying turtle daikaiju, Gamera, created by Daiei that first appeared in the 1965 film Gamera.
