Gamescom 2023’s Opening Night Live had promised a lineup comprising some of the biggest names in the gaming industry. They did not disappoint.
Activision released the first official gameplay for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The new footage, 9 minutes in length, is in-game footage of the opening mission of the title that is set right after the explosive events of Modern Warfare II’s campaign mode.
The new gameplay trailer shows the player, in first person POV, navigating through the ocean with gear that seems quite advanced. They use grappling hooks to scale the walls of the fortress-like Zordaya prison complex.
The overall ambiance the video sets is dark and moody, almost too dark sometimes. This adds to the thrill of shooting at enemies in the dark, along with snappier guns and a more intuitive laser sight.
This will be the first Call of Duty title set right after the events of its predecessor, i.e., Modern Warfare II.

Fans are speculating that Makarov is behind the door. Right after the breaching animation, the scene cuts to the blood-red Modern Warfare III title, and the release date is confirmed to be November 10th, 2023.
Other confirmed developments are the new Open Combat campaigns. All Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps from 2009 have been remastered and included in Modern Warfare III, set to release soon.
With long-time developer Treyarch in the driving seat for this title’s development, Zombies are returning. They will be based on a new Dark Aether storyline in open-world survival-style gameplay on “the largest zombie map” in Call of Duty.
The beta dates hinted earlier in a document revealed on Twitter, have been confirmed, with October 6th to 10th being exclusively for PlayStation users and October 12th to 16th for PlayStation, PC, and Xbox users.
All these updates coupled with the new gameplay trailer, are making sure that Call of Duty fans are buckled up with their loadouts ready for the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on November 10th.
