Fans have been wondering about what Yūto Tsukuda, series author, and Shun Saeki, series illustrator, will work on next. Well, wonder no more!
New One Shot
Food Wars! Shougeki no Soma creator duo released a 46-page long one-shot titled “Yugen’s All-Ghoul Classroom” on March 24, 2020.
The one-shot is licensed by Viz and is available through Shonen Jump. It revolves around Yugen Tojinbo, a medium whose expertise lies in dealing with Haunts causing people to turn into ghouls.
Plot & Review – Was it good?
Yugen comes off as a very trustworthy character. Not only because of the way he talks but also because of his “perverted” side, which makes him get attracted to people’s souls (despite their age and outer appearance).
The one-shot is mainly set in Falbion Private Academy For Girls, a top-rated finishing school for females. Falbion consists of only the most refined and pure students who exemplify their slogan — “Purity, Propriety, and Integrity.” The students of the school are sought after by many perverted people.
The teachers and guards have a well-oiled security system for dealing with them. Enter Yugen Tojinbo.
Yugen is hired as a counselor for the school. Upon entrance, he starts flirting with a custodian, whose soul he feels is very bright. When asked by Mishiro Sato, a newly hired teacher, it turns out that he is looking for a soulmate because being married is his dream. Mishiro immediately takes him for a pervert.
Yugen is sent to visit a student’s parents as the student hasn’t been showing up to school lately. As it turns out, the student is one of the best in the academy and has been feeling depressed because of immense pressure.
This weakens her and allows a low level of Haunt to start feeding off of her vital resources. With the help of Mishiro, Yugen successfully reverts her back into a human and proves that his abilities are no joke.
This makes Mishiro realize that maybe there is more to Yugen than she initially thought. Astounded by the effectiveness of his abilities, the school hires him as the Homeroom teacher for a class that the Haunt has taken over. Hence the name — Yugen’s All-Ghoul Classroom.
Will we get a manga?
The one-shot, Yugen’s All-Ghouls classroom definitely seems to have a promising premise. This one-shot, might definitely get a manga since it will be the next big thing for the Food Wars! creator duo.
This is even more likely because Shonen Jump just lost one of its biggest titles — Demon Slayer, as the manga concluded. Food Wars! Shougeki no Soma also concluded last year, and The Promised Neverland is about to end as well.
If the audience react positively to this one-shot, it can definitely become one of the highest-grossing manga titles under Shonen Jump.
