Developer CyberConnect2 and publisher Aniplex on Monday officially confirmed the release of the highly anticipated Demon Slayer video game. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Keppuutan is slated to release exclusively in Japan on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC sometime in 2021.
The home video game “Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Blood Wind Tan” will also be released on PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S! In addition to the solo play mode, it also has a 2vs2 battle mode that you can play offline or online.

According to the official description from Aniplex, the game will feature two distinct modes – Solo Play and Versus. In Solo Play, players can relive the story of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime. In the Versus Mode, players can team up in two-on-two battles, either online or versus AI opponents, and play as the various characters that appear throughout the show like Tanjiro, Nezuko, and more.
At the moment, it’s not clear if the game will reach audiences outside Japan. However, a release on almost every current platform that is available to gamers bodes well for a worldwide release. And considering the global popularity of the anime, it would be foolish to keep the game tied down to Japan. A Demon Slayer mobile game titled Kimetsu no Yaiba Keppuu Kengeki Royale was also on the books but was pushed indefinitely from its 2020 release.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an incredibly popular shonen manga by Koyoharu Gotōge. It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 15, 2016, to May 18, 2020 and was first adapted for TV by Studio Ufotable in 2019. The first anime movie titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train was released in October 2020, in Japan. The Mugen Train movie, in only 73 days, became the highest grossing movie of all time in Japan.
