Ichigo and the Mew Mews have finally returned for the second season of Tokyo Mew New New. The first season ended in a super romantic way, with Masaya confessing his feelings and Ichigo reciprocating them.
Meanwhile, the Chimera Animas prepare for their next confrontation with the Mew Mews. From where the last season ended, it seems that they are going all-out this time.
On Tuesday, the official Twitter account for the new anime series revealed two new cast members. The official website also released creditless versions of both theme songs for the new season.
Both songs are performed by Smewthie. The opening theme song is “Megamorphose” and the ending theme song is “Can-do Dreamer”. Smewthie is a five-member band formed by the five main cast members.
The two cast members revealed are Saki Nakajima and Satoshi Hino. They will play Ichigo Momomiya’s mother and father respectively. Interestingly, Nakajima and Hino are also married in real life. They tied the knot in January 2015.
Nakajima also voiced the protagonist Ichigo in the original Tokyo Mew Mew anime.
Season 2 of Tokyo Mew Mew New premiered on TV Tokyo and related networks on Tuesday, with HIDIVE streaming the series worldwide. Yumeta Company and Graphinica are producing the anime, with Takahiro Natori as the director and Yuka Yamada as the series composer.
This season would most likely conclude the series as the first season covered the entire first season of the original anime.
