Three main casts members have been revealed for the upcoming film adaptation of the Mean Girls musical.
The film is an adaptation of 2004’s popular high school drama of the same name and is being made by Jeff Richmond, Tina Fey, and Nell Benjamin. The story features a young woman, Cady Heron, arriving at a new school and facing off against the trio of girls that rules the roost, The Plastics.
The Mean Girls’ cast is already stuffed with stars like Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Jaquel Spivey as Damien, Angourie Rice as Cady, and Auli’i Cravalho as the outcast Janis Ian.
According to Deadline, three new members have joined the crew. They are Bebe Wood, Avantika, and Christopher Briney playing the gossipy Gretchen Wieners, the airheaded Karen Smith, and Regina George’s boyfriend Aaron Samuels, respectively.
All the new cast members have played prominent roles in many recent young-adult creatives. Christopher Briney is the latest addition to the list, but he is already well-known for his major role in the coming-of-age series The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Briney played the heartthrob Conrad in the Prime Video series, which has also been renewed for season 2.
On the other hand, Avantika started in the Indian-Telugu industry in 2010. She has recently been featured in English shows like the Disney animated series Mira, Royal Detective, the Netflix comedy Senior Year, and the HBO show The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Finally, Bebe Wood has been working on and off since 2011. As a child, she was one of the most prominent members of the Ryan Murphy sitcom, The New Normal. She also appeared in series like Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and The Real O’Neals.
Wood’s most recent role was as a Lake Meriweather in the high school drama Love, Victor, and she was part of the main cast for all three seasons.
The newly formed trio comes with a lot of experience in this genre. So, the cast of Mean Girls Musical is shaping up to be something special!
