The Star-Spangled Man is more than his shield, but Captain America’s weapon remains one of the iconic things that make the superhero so great. The item was passed down from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson in the MCU at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Oh, and now you can own it too! Kind of.
LEGO has released a new toy in their Infinity Saga line of Marvel models, bringing a 3128-piece set which, when arranged completely, will give you the Lego-version of the shield, which is two-thirds of the size of Captain America’s original item. The shield is now available for pre-sale at $199.99 and will start shipping on August 1, 2023.
The 18+ model comes with a mantle on which you can place your completed set, which also has the nameplate citing Captain America’s name and the logos for LEGO & Infinity Saga. Also, the new product comes with a miniature LEGO Captain America, as seen in the advertisement images below:
The shield was first introduced in the MCU in Captain America: The First Avenger, used by the titular character after Howard Stark build it out of what he thought was the last of the world’s vibranium. Though Steve gives up the shield for his friend Bucky in the subsequent Captain America films, Tony gives it back to him as an olive branch in Endgame.
At the end of Endgame, Rogers passes on the weapon and the superhero title to Sam Wilson, who grows into it in the MCU series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Wilson will pick up the shield once again in his upcoming film Captain America: New World Order, the first film where Anthony Mackie plays the titular character, not Chris Evans.
I will place my order right after this article, though no hard feelings if I beat you to it, right? Go on, treat yourself! Be sure to stay tuned to Cine Dope for the latest news about your favorite characters, movies, shows, and more.
