A new clip of Marvel’s Black Widow provides viewers a better understanding of Natasha’s Russian family.
The film, which is slated for release both in theatres and on Disney+, comes out on July 9 and will be a standalone film for Scarlett Johansson’s beloved character, delving into Romanoff’s origin story.
Although Marvel Entertainment has already released many looks from the movies, including teasers and trailers, fans can’t seem to get enough of them.
Now with a little more than a month to go until its debut, Rachel Weisz, who plays a major role in the movie, gave a look into an additional clip during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The footage provides context over how Natasha, Red Guardian, and the other widows were brought together. It also puts focus on the family-like relationship they shared with each other until they were separated.
The clip further reveals that Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) was not only trained to be a black widow spy, but she is a scientist as well. Weisz talked about how the character manages a pig farm where she can conduct experiments on the animals.
It is the very same farm where Romanoff locates her while attempting to reunite the family. The clip also establishes Vostokoff’s past romantic chemistry with Shostakov, which is reinvigorated thanks to their reunion.
Along with Natasha and Yelena, the group was forced to act like a family for three years, although they admittedly do not extend those same ties to each other anymore.
Being the first film to come out during Marvel’s Phase Four, expectations for Black Widow are high, especially considering the reopening of theaters which should ensure the ultimate cinematic experience for fans and has been missed for more than a year due to the COVID pandemic.
Scarlett Johansson is hopeful that the movie will be able to bring closure to Natasha’s chapter in the MCU following her tragic and untimely death in Avengers: Endgame and help steer the franchise into a new direction.
