Creator George Kay has recently dropped an update on Lupin’s future by revealing Assane’s fate in the series.
Famous thief Lupin inspires the 2021 Netflix show, which follows Assane Diop (Omar Sy) as he seeks revenge for his late father by targeting the families that harmed him.
The show has garnered a lot of praise for its first three seasons from both audiences and critics.
Kay recently spoke to Variety about the potential storylines for Lupin season 4. Although several nuances are left to be resolved, the creator revealed that they have planned highly ambitious foundations for the show’s future. Read Kay’s comments below:
Obviously, we’ve worked super hard on these seasons, and then we got to see how the world reacts. So I would say, not to answer for Damien, but he’s got to factor that in. But when you create the dynamics amongst the characters, you set these shows up so that they can have a long life so that you’re not cornered, or you don’t have a problem continuing them, because it’s harder to generate length out of a show that’s not designed to run and run. So we had very ambitious foundations for it. So it’s definitely got the scale, if it’s required.
For the fans who need a little refresher on Assane’s fate till now, here you go!
In the bombastic season 3 finale, Assane reunites with Claire and Raoul, who narrowly save themselves from Keller inside their own home. Assane finally confronts his advisor and devises a plan to get the stolen black pearl and enter the prison.
In prison, he deals with Youssef, promising to reveal secrets in exchange for more stories and only if Benjamin gets released.
Although Assane is arrested, we know that the story is not over. In the final moments of season 3, we see Assane being placed in Hubert Pellegrini’s prison. We all know Hubert confessed to being responsible for Assane’s father’s death. This suggests that Assane may have misplaced his trust, which can have severe consequences!
It remains to be seen if Netflix will greenlight Lupin season 4. However, Kay’s comments suggest he surely has exciting plans for Assane’s future!
