Good news and bad news all wrapped together! Netflix comedy series Dead To Me is coming back soon with the third season. However, it will be its concluding season.
Okay, so there is one more good news, the show creator Liz Feldman will continue to write originals for Netflix. So if you liked the show’s comedy, that could continue for a while to come.
The single-camera dark comedy, Dead to Me revolves around a hotheaded realtor and widow, Jen (Christina Applegate).
Jen is in the lookout for the hit-and-run driver who mowed down her husband. Optimistic and free-spirited Judy (Linda Cardellini) has recently suffered a tragic loss of her own.
The ladies meet at a support group and, despite their polar-opposite personalities, become unlikely friends.
Others in the cast include James Marsden, Max Jenkins, Sam McCarthy, and Luke Roessler.
The first two seasons had 10 episodes each and were released in May 2019 and May 2020, respectively. While this May saw the COVID lockdown, we can expect the show to be out by this time next year.
In addition to renewing the show, Netflix also stated today that it had gotten into a multi-year partnership with the Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman for the development of original series and other projects.
I am excited about the third season especially considering where the second one ended. Also, I am kinda glad it is finishing up soon before it can get all generic and boring.
The high of the show was always in its peculiar plotline and its eccentric characters. The two are best enjoyed when short-lived!
Meanwhile, the show has consistently maintained an above 8 ranking on IMDb and the show has been a hit in its niche genre – traumedy – a coming together of tragedy, trauma and comedy. For many people, the traumedy was a catharsis in its own right.
What are your expectations on the third season? Are you excited as well? Let us know below!
