When you think of the Devil May Cry series, your mind likely jumps directly to over-the-top, stylish action filled with lots of demonic horrors and excellent leather jackets. That very particular vibe has become a franchise hallmark.
The series has become one of the classics, and it has inspired many things, such as anime, stage plays, novels, and manga. But for the fans, there is some great news as Dante is returning once again in the new adaptation of Netflix’s ‘Devil May Cry’ anime.
On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled during its Drop 01 event an official announcement trailer for the animated series based on CAPCOM’s Devil May Cry game franchise.
The new video teases us with glimpses of Dante going berserk on his foes while having fun.
The trailer itself doesn’t offer much in the way of exposition or explanation, but going off of what little we see, this new adaptation of Devil May Cry will draw heavy inspiration from 2005’s Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening.
It takes place a decade before the events of the original game and follows a young Dante as he battles against a demonic invasion of Earth and crosses swords with his brother Vergil.
Producers Adi Shankar (Castlevania) and Alex Larsen (Yasuke) have finished composing the scripts for the first season of the series. The show will have several seasons.
The first season will have eight episodes and will feature the characters Dante, Vergil, and Lady. IGN had previously stated that the show would “reportedly” go into production in 2022, with no set release date yet.
