Romantic Killer is a story that every girl, who has been breaking the stereotypes of a lonely and love-starved shoujo lead, can relate to. It features a protagonist named Anzu who doesn’t want anything to do with romance but is thrown into one filled with ikemen.
This is a story where reverse harem meets shoujo, a nightmare for Anzu, who will prioritize her cat, video games, and chocolates over her own life.
Netflix has acquired the official streaming rights for Romantic Killer’s upcoming anime and has shared an English-subtitled trailer with fans. This hilarious video clip accurately portrays Anzu’s worst nightmares that look like daydreams.
The anime is slated to debut on October 27, so renew your subscriptions before that.
Anzu’s story begins when the wizard Riri enters her life. The wizard explains that Anzu has been chosen as a test subject for the Magical World’s project to stop population decline.
With no choice given to back out and forced to live a shoujo plot with hot guys, Anzu protests by not falling in love at all. Like any other shoujo tale or otome game, this one also features guys of different tropes like childhood friends, enemies to lovers, and more.
First, we get Tsukasa Kazuki, the mysterious and hot one who has got every girl swooning over him. Tsukasa also happens to be Anzu’s schoolmate, which gives them many chances to encounter each other.
These two are thrown into various awkward and romantic situations by the wizard Riri, much to Anzu’s chagrin.
After Tsukasa, we get the athletic childhood friend, Junta Hayami, who has an outgoing and quirky personality. Junta is extra soft and careful with Anzu, making his feelings toward her evident to everyone.
Given Junta’s extrovert personality and closeness with Anzu, he often does stuff like pat her head. The only problem here is that Anzu doesn’t have a childhood friend, and Junta is another character thrown at her by Riri.
Last but not least, we have the arrogant rich brat Hijiri Koganei who is introduced to life’s cheap and simple pleasures by Anzu. Their relationship is more of enemies to lovers due to Hijiri’s personality and the kind of environment he was brought up in.
In this case, Anzu’s ignorance towards Hijiri’s advances and efforts creates more problems for her as he becomes hell-bent on getting her affection. Not that anyone cares, but Anzu’s tactics to avoid falling in love might do the opposite.
Netflix has also revealed the main cast members for the upcoming anime, and they’re as follows:
