Netflix’s One Piece live-action debuted on 31st August, running over 8 episodes, which compressed approximately 100 manga chapters. It is an absolute must-watch and has broken the “curse” of live-action anime adaptation.
Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action was such a hit that Netflix renewed the series for a second season, as revealed by Eiichiro Oda on 15 September 2023. They creatively announced it as Oda spoke via a Den Den Mushi, aka Transponder Snail.
Oda also revealed a teaser illustration for Tony Tony Chopper, as the Straw Hat pirates will need a doctor now that they are about to set sail to the Grand Line.

Season 2 will cover the next arc, which is the Arabasta Saga. It will cover Manga chapters 157-217 and episodes 92 to 130 of the anime.
Season 2 was bound to be announced as Netflix’s One Piece Live Action set a new record for Netflix, surpassing Stranger Things and Wednesday.
It ranked ranked #1 in its first week and has over a whopping 18.5 million total views. This show has been appraised with an IMDb rating of 8.5, a score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, and an overall 95% audience approval.
In addition, the fiscal records were revealed on 27 August, revealing that each episode surpassed a budget of $17 million, which exceeds Game of Thrones, which has an IMDb rating of 9.2.
Eiichiro Oda had personally ensured that “There were no compromises on this show.”
Tomorrow Studios produced the live-action in a partnership with producer Marty Adelstein (known for Prison Break and Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios. The show’s writer was Matt Owens ( known for Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Steven Maeda and Becky Clements were executive producers.
With the involvement of Oda, the effort of the production team, and the energetic cast, they were able to crash the records and ignite the flame for the One Piece fandom once again.
