Netflix has us rolling in anticipation once again with its latest fantasy drama Warrior Nun. Ever since it dropped the first trailer of the supernatural series, we can’t stop comparing it to its counterparts, including Sabrina and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
The series is set to air from July 2 on the streaming platform and is definitely one of the most exciting premieres for the month. Watch the trailer here and let us know what you think in the comments below:
A cult classic
Based on the eponymous cult classic comic series from the 1990s, the Warrior Nun series was first conceived by artist Ben Dunn. The manga-style graphic novel series was originally titled Warrior Nun Areala. For the live-action adaptation, Simon Barry serves as the program creator and executive producer.
The series will star Alba Baptista as Ava, Toya Turner as Shotgun Mary, Tristan Ulloa as Father Vincent, Lorena Andrea as Sister Lilith, Joaquim de Almeida as Cardinal Durettia and Sylvia De Fanti as Mother Superion.
Shot in multiple cities of Spain, we are expecting some amazing cameos by the beautiful landscapes of the country alongside the star cast. There is a dearth of neither action nor drama in Warrior Nun-world.
There is a young girl waking up in a mortuary with unbelievable powers. A war is on in the world and nuns armed with swords and guns are out to win it.
Biblical verses are strewn throughout from each episode title to the story itself. There is good and evil but the ones fighting the evil are not necessarily good themselves!
Fantasy is the future! Give a cheers in the comments below if you agree.
