After Netflix’s foray into anime, Castlevania has been one of its most hit “technically” anime series.
The tale of Belmont’s fight against Dracula is both sincere to the source material and also doesn’t hesitate to pull its punches. But the story so far can only be considered the “origin story,” as the heavy hitters of Belmont are yet to come.
With the final season of the Trevor Belmont saga now finally over, Netflix is finally pulling the ace up its sleeve.
Netflix announced that a new series starring Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, set in France during the French Revolution, is currently in the works through its Netflix Geeked channel.
Richter is considered the most powerful Belmont to ever live with a strong sense of Justice and unwavering will. He also possesses the vampire killer whip used by Trevor. Richter with Maria Renard and Alucard feature in at least Five Castlevania games.
While Maria Renard, too, is a distant Belmont with immense magical power, just like Sypha. She can summon familiars to aid her in battle.
Lastly, the series will also have Alucard as he joins the fights against his father. If we assume that the series will cover the “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night” game, then Alucard will play a central role in the plot.
Symphony of Night is by far the peak of Castlevania games and the first one to feature Alucard as the main playable character. However, how the original story will mesh with the Netflix series is quite hard to guess.
In the final season of the anime, it was revealed that Dracula and his wife Lisa reincarnated and went off to live in England. Moreover, Dracula in anime is less of an antagonist and more of a man grieving his loss.
It will be interesting to see how the anime takes on this challenge of introducing a new central antagonist while sticking to the game’s events.
Further details about the Castlevania anime are yet to be disclosed, so we will keep you updated!
