Neil Patrick Harris is ready to win your hearts all over again, as he makes the lead for Netflix new comedy series Uncoupled.
As reported by Deadline, the series is created and will be executively produced by Darren Star (Younger and Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family). Joining this banner will also be MTV Entertainment Studios and Jax Media.
Harris will also be an executive producer on the show.
In the series, Harris will be playing Michael who is living a fairytale up until his husband (partner) of 17 years leaves him without any notice.
Now, not only does he had to deal with the heartache and betrayal of losing his significant other, he also must re-learn what it is like to be a single gay man in New York City.
Filming will begin later in the year, set in New York. No cast other than Harris is confirmed, neither has a release date been set.
For Harris, who rose to stardom with Doogie Howser and How I Met Your Mother, this will be his first main role in a sitcom since his days as Barney Stinson rounded up.
The set-up behind Uncoupled is quite fresh and I’m curious about the unfolding of an older LGBTQ character which has been largely unexplored on the streamer.
With Neil Patrick Harris on board there are bound to be plenty of heartfelt moments and even more laughs.
Harris’s upcoming appearances will be in The Matrix 4 (December 22) and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (April, 2022).
