The Sandman will have its first major reveal this Saturday, September 25, on Netflix’s virtual global fan event “Tudum.”
Tudum is divided into three-hour slots. As per schedule, Hour Two will be hosted by Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin and kickstarted by The Sandman panel. Tom Sturridge, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Neil Gaiman will be attending.
During The Sandman panel, fans can expect to see character posters, first looks, and perhaps even a teaser video.
For the unacquainted, Sturridge will be playing The Sandman/Morpheus, also known as the Dream of the Endless. He is one of the seven “Endless” — the others being Death, Destiny, Desire, Delirium, Despair, and Destruction.
Killing Eve’s Howell-Baptiste, who is also attending the panel, plays Death in the live-action.
The cast is an impressive one with Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christine and Charles Dance as Lucifer and Roderick Burgess respectively, Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman as Detective Constantine and Harry Potter’s David Thewlis as Doctor Destiny.
As Gaiman envisioned it, the Endless are anthropomorphic personifications of metaphysical entities, the likes of which we have tasted in the live-action of Good Omens.
The Sandman’s story follows the capture of Dream in 1916 during an occult trial. In 2021, after being captive for over a decade, he breaks free and seeks to re-establish order in his kingdom of Dreaming.

While The Sandman’s release date is TBA, we know that filming has wrapped up as of August. I hope Tudum does give us a definitive timeline for the show!
HBO Max is also reportedly developing a documentary exploring DC’s 80-year-old history.
