Now that Felix Gallardo has been arrested and is out of the picture, Narcos: Mexico Season 3’s trailer reveals that other cartels are plying their way to the top.
All the action will be going down in Juarez this season, as Tijuana has been claimed by the Guadalajara Cartel. As seen in the trailer, the landscape is filled with mayhem, scheming, and glitz to the epic soundtrack of Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden.
In particular, we can expect to see the rise of Felix’s nephew and partner Amado, the Sinaloa Cartel dealings, El Chapo’s antagonism towards the Tijuana Cartel that will ultimately lead to him becoming one of the most powerful drug lords.
The biographical show does quite faithfully follow historical events (with a few creative liberties, of course). And as such, the current season will be set in the 1990s and experience the “globalization” of drug businesses.
But with only ten episodes slated for Narcos: Mexico’s third and last season, it is unsure which event will chronicle its end. This means that fans may not see El Chapo’s full story either, which includes his arrest.
The “incompleteness” may seem a little unfair, but the show had always promised an origin story, not a complete story.
Netflix is also yet to clarify if this will be the last season of the Mexico saga or the entire Narcos franchise itself. Fans hope it is only the former since there is no dearth of drug empires to follow.
Returning cast includes Scoot McNairy, José María Yázpik, Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda, and Gorka Lasaosa.
Newbies on the board are Luis Gerardo Méndez as Victor Topia, a cop fascinated with drug cartels, Luisa Rubino as ambitious journalist Andrea Nuñez and Alberto Guerra as drug trafficker Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
Narcos: Mexico Season 3 premieres on Netflix, November 15. Mark your calendars!
