While it was speculated that the manga will end by New Year 2020 with the defeat of the Demon King, Suzuki chose to take a different route. Not only did manga continue, but Nakaba Suzuki also turned the world of Seven Deadly Sins upside down.
Nanatsu no Taizai’s manga chapter 339 ended on a major cliffhanger. As Merlin decided to part ways with the rest of the sins to protect Arthur, the other six were transported back to Britannia. Chapter 340 came out recently, and it raised a major question about Arthur & Chaos.
This chapter explored the two possibilities for Arthur’s future in the series and raised one simple yet important question – Will Arthur be able to command Chaos or be consumed by it?
1. Chapter 341 Release Date
There is no news or information as of yet on the next chapter of the manga. Judging from the pace of the manga, it will release between 9th and 11th February. It will begin with the showdown between Cath Palug and Merlin.
2. Chapter 341 Speculation
The next chapter will show the battle Merlin vs. Monster Cat. After that, it will most likely continue the exploration and understanding of the Power of Chaos.
3. Chapter 340 “Because I Wanted To See You” Plot
Chapter 340 starts with the rest of the sins back in Britannia while Merlin takes Arthur into a chaos-created building to help him rest. When asked by other sins, Meliodas comments that he is sure Merlin would be happy and even laughing.
Something that felt like a taunt in anger was actually the reality a close friend would know. The next panel shows Merlin beside Arthur, with a smile and laughter as she is intrigued by the Power of Chaos and its many many possibilities. Merlin also points towards Arthur’s True Holy Sword and says that the fact that it does not have a proper form yet means Arthur still has room to grow.
It is followed by Arthur waking up; he tells Merlin that he is not angry with her at all. He further explains it by saying that now Arthur has the very power that created everything in existence with sheer will – he will now create a peaceful world. The panel also shows bat-like creatures disappearing from the sword and an increase in the number of pigeon-like creatures.
I believe it signified Arthur bringing light into the world and creating a peaceful world as he claims. However, in the next panel, Meliodas reminds the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins about the consequences of the power of chaos. If Arthur is unable to command the power and is himself consumed by the darkness, then Britannia would literally become HELL.
After that, the manga ended with Cath Palug coming back and attacking Arthur and Merlin, choosing to fight it in Arthur’s stead.

The Seven Deadly Sins takes place in the Kingdom of Liones’ where The Holy Knights of Brittania defeated the alleged traitors of the kingdom – The Seven Deadly Sins – during their coup. Ten years later, the very same Holy Knights stage a coup and begin a tyrannical rule in the kingdom. They forced the third princess Elizabeth Liones to go in search of the Nanatsu no Taizai to bring back peace to the kingdom.
