Seven Deadly Sins returned with its third season in October with “The Light That Disperses Darkness” as episode 1. However, things have been rough for the show in its third season, with news about the rushed and troubled production. Fans’ fear of the quality of the anime being hampered came to pass and looks like fans are now ready to give up the series after its latest episode.
Recently, the anime put out the fifth episode of season three, titled “Emotional Maelstrom”. The viewers tried to focus on the story, but a poorly animated Meliodas kept taking their attention.
In the /r/NanatsunoTaizai subreddit, a discussion began when the episode showed a shot of Meliodas carrying an unconscious Elizabeth around 8 mins in. The scene was fine, to begin with, but soon things took a turn for the worse.
The shot wasn’t taken in-between frames, it is an extended period shot, which means Meliodas was animated like this for an entire shot duration rather than a single frame. If this wasn’t enough, Meliodas has been animated poorly yet again. His facial features are disproportionate in his dialogue which brings up the question: was this a result of negligence or a drop in the overall quality of the anime?
There has been no news regarding the airing schedule of the series in the U.S. however leaked shots and clips of the anime on social media have already upset the American fans of the show. If things don’t improve soon, the anime is bound to lose a tonne of viewers since this was not the first incident of poor animation in this season.
