After her monthly cosplay event, Hayakawa walks back to the changing room and runs into her boss, Akina. Immediately getting flustered, she tries to hide her face and pretend to be someone else. However, his reaction is entirely different from expected.

He praises the outfit and her dedication to the hobby and also calls her cute in the process. Hayakawa’s brain overloads and completely shuts down, while Akina refuses to back down.

2. Speculation

A new romance plot has started between Akina and Hayakawa, although this one is not as obvious as Shinozaki and Katase. The slight possibility of the dinner meeting being a date had excited Hayakawa, so it’s clear that she has some feelings for Akina.

Akina’s personality has always been very aloof, and he hasn’t shown any explicit romantic interest in anyone. Since he has always just been on the sidelines trying to set other people up, the question of his relationship is a mystery.

3. Recap

Hayakawa had just finished attending a cosplay event in town and returned to the changing room, hoping not to run into anyone. Conveniently enough, Akina sees her in a cat-girl outfit and compliments her.

She begs him never to tell anyone else about this incident, and he calls her cute for getting so flustered. Hayakawa can’t stop thinking about the incident and can’t sleep, embarrassed that her manager found out she’s a cosplayer.

The following day at work, Akina asks Hayakawa to dinner in a quiet restaurant. He talks to her about work, and she realizes it isn’t a date. However, he starts getting shy suddenly and asks if he can attend a cosplay event with her.

Hayakawa approaches Shinozaki about the issue, embarrassed that he knows she’s an otaku. Akina appears from behind the booth again, accidentally eavesdropping on their conversation and discovering more embarrassing facts about Hayakawa. The next day is Halloween, and Akina brings cat ears to the office for him and Hayakawa.

There’s also a lot of chocolate and candy stock in the office, and Katase and Shinozaki find them first. She opens her mouth for him to feed her the chocolate, but he hesitates and misses his chance. Akina walks in and realizes she just had one of the alcoholic chocolates, and her tolerance is extremely low.

Incredibly drunk, she hugs Shinozaki and tells him how proud she is as a senpai and how far he has come since his first day. Akina uses this opportunity to try and get her to confess, but she still hasn’t figured out her feelings for him yet.

My Tiny Senpai is a Summer 2023 anime by Studio project No.9. It is inspired by a manga series by the same name that is authored and illustrated by Saisō. The anime was first announced in Fall 2022 and premiered in July 2023.

Shinozaki, an office worker, has just received a new job offer, but work turns out to be very tough. He struggles at his workplace until a very strict yet cute senpai takes him under her wing. Katase knows the ins and outs of the job, but Shinozaki hopes that his senpai will pay him more attention outside of work matters too.
