In episode 5 of “My Instant Death Ability”, we learn a lot about Yogiri’s past and even the fact that he was called Lord Okakushi before taking the human form. Yogiri was never hostile, to begin with, and became close with Asaka Takatou, his mother figure, very fast. It’s still not stated as to why he took a human form but we’ll know that eventually.
Somehow, Tomochika and Yogiri got caught up in a swordmaster’s trial. After passing the first trial with no problems whatsoever, they reached the second trial and made two new friends along the way. They saw the sealed Dark God and the real swordmaster at the second trial. The second trial begins in the next episode.

2. Episode 6 Speculation
While navigating their way to the capital, Tomochika and Yogiri got caught up in serious trouble as they became candidates for the next knight of the divine king. They passed the first trial with ease, but they saw the sealed dark god at the second trial. It seemed almost impossible to kill the god while he was sealed. Tomochika asked Yogiri if he could do it, and hearing this, he suddenly started acting weird.
He told Tomochika what he did when the weird miasma suddenly went away. Well, he whispered the answer in her ear, but knowing him, I’m pretty sure he accidentally killed the dark god while trying to make the miasma go away. It doesn’t seem like he is going to tell anyone about it, though. They’ll proceed to climb down the tower in the next episode, and we’ll learn more about these new candidates who got a wildcard entry.
3. Recap of Episode 5
The episode started with Tomochika driving a car while Yogiri is fast asleep. As she navigated through the rough terrain on the mountain, Yogiri dreamed about his past and how he met his mother figure, Asaka Takatou, for the first time. She was also the one who gave him the name Yogiri.
Asaka Takatou originally joined the program as a home tutor, but after joining, she realized that it was no ordinary organization. The people she was about to work for researched the extraterrestrial. She was in charge of someone code-named “Alpha Omega”. She learned that this certain someone is capable of killing anyone they wanted to.
Her expression changed after seeing “Alpha Omega” because what she saw was merely a little kid. After a while, they got to know each other better, and Asaka gave him the name Yogiri. Yogiri took her last name, Takatou, and their beautiful mother-and-son relationship started.
Tomochika woke Yogiri as they hit a dead end on the road. Yogiri proposed that they take a detour, but suddenly, they get attacked by a bunch of dragons. Yogiri, being Yogiri, killed them all like they were just small bugs. A big golden dragon appeared before them, but instead of attacking, it tried to fly away.
Yogiri threatened it into answering his questions, and surprisingly, the dragon turned into a little girl. She told them that she was only testing them for the swordmaster and assured them that she’d show them the way if they visited the swordmaster. Hearing that the swordmaster was on par with the sage, Yogiri decided to visit him.
The dragon girl named Atila took them to the swordmaster, where many other people were waiting. Atila told them that the swordmaster was going to choose the next knight of the divine king. She begged Yogiri and Tomochika to participate in the bloodbath that the swordmaster started by ordering everyone to kill each other.
Unexpectedly, they found two allies, Rick and Lynel, who helped them in the fight. Once they reached the next trial ground together, Mokomoko immediately warned Tomochika about a harmful miasma, but she couldn’t feel it at all, and of course, Yogiri was alright. On the other hand, even though Rick was ok, the miasma took a serious toll on Lynel. The weirder part here was that Yogiri suddenly started acting weird once the miasma was gone.
Anyway, they went to the top of the tower, where they found the suspended bodies of the real swordmaster and the dark god. The current swordmaster gave everyone the task of climbing down the tower while accumulating points. Several special participants joined them at this part.

The series revolves around Yogiri Takatou who is a high school student with the secret power to invoke instant death with a single thought.
The light novel series was first published in October 2016, and currently consists of 13 volumes and one million copies in circulation.
