In Episode 19, titled ‘More of a Hero Than Anyone,’ Shota and Hizashi learn the disheartening secret about what happened to their high-school friend Oboro after he died.
Earlier in the episode, Shota and Hizashi were summoned to Tartarus, where Gran Torino revealed that Kurogiri is a Nomu who most probably used their friend Oboro’s body as his base.
Naomasa asked the two to talk with Kurogiri and reawaken Oboro in order to gain any information about League of Villains.
As Shoto tried talking with Oboro, Kurogiri’s body started to get disturbed. Before Kurogiri gained control over Oboro again, Oboro managed to say the word ‘hospital.’
In the end, a scientist was seen experimenting on Tomura’s body to create infinite power that he and All For One sought.

Episode 20 Preview & Speculation
Although it was revealed that Kurogiri used Oboro’s dead body for his own benefit, it’s unclear how he got his quirk that seemingly is a part of Consciousness.
It seems like All For One is experimenting on making an artificial version of a combination of All For One and One For All’s powers. Kurogiri seems like one of such attempts, and the scientist shown at the end should be the one to bring all this to reality.
In the next episode’s preview, the story goes back by two months, when All For One’s former bodyguard Gigantomachia appeared before the League of Villains to determine whether Shigaraki was a worthy successor.
As the heroes connect the pieces, the members of the League of Villains also proceed further with their operation. The next episode will reveal more mysteries.
Episode 20 Release Date
Episode 20 of My Hero Academia (2021), titled ‘My Villain Academia,’ will be released on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

Episode 19 Recap
The third semester starts at U.A, and all the students return to joining the class after completing the first week of their work studies. Tenya and Momo inform the class to head out for a practical demonstration of what they’ve learned during their winter break.
Shota follows the student until he hears an announcement calling him to the staff room. Shota and Hizashi head to Tartarus, where Naomasa tells them about how Nomu is a human corpse that has been bioengineered to withstand multiple Quirks.
Gran Torino adds that Nomu is basically a puppet who does not have their own will, but now the theory seems false. Naomasa explains that every time they try to get any information out of Kurogiri, he becomes non-responsive like he has been switched off.
Shota looks at Kurogiri and recalls his high school days with his teammates Hizashi and Oboro. He remembers how Oboro died under a collapsing building during their work studies. Gran Torino reveals that Oboro’s remains might have served as a base for Kurogiri.
Naomasa then asks Shota and Hizashi to try and reawaken Oboro’s attachments so that they can get any information about the League of Villains. As soon as Kurogiri wakes up, he asks about Tomura Shigaraki and explains that he is worried about him because it’s his duty.
Shota tries talking to Kurogiri in order to reawaken Oboro. Kurogiri starts to become unstable, with Shota and Hizashi calling out to Oboro but regains control soon. Suddenly, Oboro’s face appears from Kurogiri’s smoke and calls out to Shota.
Before Kurogiri gains control again, Oboro manages to get out the word ‘Hospital.’ Naomasa reports this to the Hero Public Safety Commission President, who then passes the message to Hawks. He thinks about how the pieces are falling into place.
Meanwhile, a scientist performs a painful experiment on Tomura and yells that a human with complete control and infinite power is the masterpiece he and All For One have sought.
