The full-scale battle between class 1A vs 1B is going on in My Hero Academia’s Episode 98 when Deku’s power is suddenly aggravated! Black Tendrils shoot out of the body, risking the life of anyone near him.
This particular scene was revealed in the previous trailer of Season 5 and it stirred up a buzz. Now that we have reached the episode where the mess is taking place, we finally know what is happening to Deku.
No, don’t worry; he is not going insane due to the weight of the power. He is just on the verge of cultivating an even greater power than he was previously using, six more powers, to be exact.
During the competition, Monoma puts Deku in a tight spot, leading Deku to think that he wants to capture Monoma. As soon as the thought crosses his mind, black tendrils of power shoot out from him. While he tries to reign in everything, Deku’s mind slips into a subconscious realm of One for All.
What are the Black Tendrils that Deku is Emitting?
In the subconscious realm, Deku meets Daigoro Banjo, the fifth wielder of One for All. Daigoro proceeds to provide a masterclass on One for All to Deku!
One for All’s power is to store the individual quirks of each user that has acquired it. Thus currently, it has all the quirks of the previous user stored in it. What’s more, is that these quirks have been enhanced to reach their most potent forms.
Daigoro’s quirk, Black Whip, allows him to create tendrils of dark energy, which are the best at long-range grappling and increases the user’s mobility.
He further explains to Deku that as the 9th user, Deku will inherit the quirks of all the users who came before him. The power that he currently uses belongs to Fa Jin, the third user who built up kinetic energy to release as bursts of speed and power.
What are the 6 Quirks that Deku will Acquire?
Some of the already known quirks that he will be acquiring are:
- Fa jin: It is the given quirk of the third user, whose identity has not been revealed yet. It is this quirk that allows Deku to blow up things with bursts of energy (including his own limbs).
- Danger Sense: Wielded by the 4th user, Hikage Shinomori, this quirk helps the user to detect nearby threats. Just like spidey-sense!
- Blackwhip: The 5th user, Daigoro, used this. You have already been introduced to it in the episode and seen first-hand just how powerful these dark tendrils are
- Smokescreen: En, the sixth user wielded this quirk. It helps the user to generate a thick cloud of smoke that can obscure the vision of enemies.
- Float: Nana Shimura, the seventh user, used to own this quirk that allowed him to levitate.
Apart from the above-listed ones, one more quirk exists that is not known to us yet. Namely, the quirk of the 2nd user who is also unknown. The second wielder of One for All held contempt against Deku for being too forgiving, and even episode 98 does not reveal their form.
Toshinori is not included in the list since he was originally quirkless just like Deku.
Deku will have a tumultuous path ahead of him since it took him over four seasons to master Fa Jin, and now he has six more quirks to master!?
He has no time to waste since Shigaraki, and All for One will definitely not wait around for him to complete his extended training before attacking.
