My Hero Academia Epilogue- Chapter 431 Explained

My Hero Academia has just dropped its epilogue chapter, which was everything that fans needed to accept the ending of this epic tale. The new chapter takes a look into the lives of most of the main characters in the future and even touches on Deku’s relationship with Ochako, which was probably what everyone hoped to see but didn’t get to with chapter 430.

So far, the official release of the manga is yet to be announced, but rest assured, we’ll be addressing most of your doubts regarding chapter 431-the epilogue of My Hero Academia. It goes without saying that this article contains spoilers related to My Hero Academia’s last chapter, so if you haven’t caught up with the manga, do proceed cautiously.

What Does The New Ending of My Hero Academia Offer?

There are several things about the conclusion of My Hero Academia that left a bad aftertaste in the mouths of quite a few fans, so this epilogue chapter that was released along with the final volume release of the manga in Japan has managed to tackle that issue, at least to an extent.

The biggest contribution of this epilogue should be the progress in Deku’s and Ochako’s relationship, which we will explain soon. Besides this, we also got to see a bit of Toga Himiko, who managed to win the hearts of quite a few fans despite being a villain. Her death in the manga was quite sad and emotional, too, so this should count as a means to cope.

Finally, we also got to see what every one of the A class turned out to be, and it was quite heartwarming to see that most of them are successful and still cherish their old friendships.

Deku and Ochaco in My Hero Academia chapter 431

Well, this is the most pressing question that everyone had during the release of chapter 430 of MHA, and for good reason, too. Ochaco clearly loved Deku, and Deku, too, seemed moderately interested in her, although his feelings were never put into words like how Ochao’s were.

Right after they graduated, it would seem that Ochako and Deku never really got their own personal time, so they barely interacted for purposes other than work. Her feelings for him never died, though; she simply told herself that she was fine with the way things were, as Deku accepted her the way she was, and that was more than what she could ask for.

Meanwhile, on Deku’s side, too, it seemed like he was suppressing himself. This became clear when Bakugo pointed out to Deku that he couldn’t pick up the most obvious of hints (referring to Ochako’s feelings) and told him that it was because he didn’t think highly of himself. He then told Deku that since he treats everyone well, it seems as if there’s no one that he finds special, which obviously wasn’t the case.

After a meetup conducted by the A class alumni, the class split up to go back home, and Deku finally realized his own feelings, so he rushed to find Ochako, who was also rekindling her own feelings after seeing Deku. Although he never told her that he loved her, he clearly said that she was more special, and right there, the most popular ship in My Hero Academia became canonical.

Ochako’s Connection With Toga Explored in MHA Chapter 431

This is perhaps the most emotional part that chapter 431 has to offer. Everyone knows that Toga Himiko was quite eccentric and villainous, but she still had her own feelings that were valid, and she lived according to them valiantly.

In the latest chapter, Ochako told Asui that she’d been seeing Toga a lot in her dreams and wondered if her consciousness existed within her like One-For-All. There’s no clear answer to this that the manga has given us other than the fact that Toga’s consciousness still exists is a possibility.

Regardless, she sure did give Ochako a push to face her own feelings. The Toga inside Ochako’s head explained to her that she had lived her whole life the way she wanted, so her love for Ochako is what made her urge Ochako to live the way she wanted to live.

What Became of The Class 1-A Students?

In My Hero Academia chapter 431, all the former class 1-A students convened to congratulate Todoroko on being the No.2 hero. Quite a few people were shocked to see that Todoroki had changed quite a lot, as he began to appreciate himself a lot more and even picked up some interesting hobbies.

Interestingly, many of our young heroes have claimed top spots on the Hero Billboard. Iida ranked No. 13, while Yaoyorozu ranked 19, and Tentacole ranked 9 on the billboard. It was really reassuring to know that the older heroes, like Miriko, Ryukyu, Best Jeanist, Kamui Woods, and many others, were still active and occupied good spots on the Hero Billboard.

Does Deku Resume Being A Hero in MHA Epilogue?

No, even after receiving the gear that would enable him to resume his hero activities, Deku didn’t formally start doing any hero work. He admitted that even if he had One-For-All, he would still choose to be a teacher, as he felt more passion for that profession. Besides, his experience being a hero would also massively benefit young minds, who also looked up to him as the man who stood up against All-For-One.

Deku also rejected Bakugo’s offer to join his agency as a side-kick. Bakugo wasn’t sour about this though, and that’s quite a good development from Bakugo’s side, as he’s still caring for his friends despite always showing his brash side.

Is Toya (Dabi) Still Alive?

In chapter 431 of My Hero Academia, Shoto revealed that Toya had died. No specifics were shared about how he died or when he died. It was when Shoto spoke of how he realized that he loved eating when he was praying at Toya’s altar that this information was dropped.

Regardless, there isn’t too much emotion associated with Dabi’s demise. This is because of the countless lives he had sacrificed just because of his personal rage against his father. He will continue to remain an irredeemable villain in everyone’s memories.
