Grandpa wants him to have friends, but Gojo is a loner. In class, he gets to hear other people’s conversations instead of having his own. Kitagawa Marin is one of the pretty and popular girls in school.

She falls on his desk and hits her head while playing. Apologizing to Gojo, she talks and notices the ink stain on his hand, which Gojo immediately covers.

He also overhears her conversation with her friends, where she calls a guy lame because he insulted the anime character she liked. He thinks of how his world has kept him from socializing and how everyone has accepted Kitagawa’s world and who she is.

At home, his sewing machine breaks, and he decides to do it in class after school. As he’s sewing away, Kitagawa walks in and sees him. Gojo drops the doll but slides across the floor to catch it.

He asks the doll if she’s alright and realizes Kitagawa looks at him weirdly. She looks at his work not to ridicule but admire. She then shows him the dress she made to cosplay Shizuku- her favorite character.

Gojo points out flaws left and right, but when he realizes that it’s too much, he immediately apologizes. She looked up to her favorite character so much, that her conviction to look like Shizuku moved Gojo. He agrees to give making costumes, a shot.
