Muv-Luv Alternative episode three titled “Something to Protect,” was the latest installment in the anime. The episode focused on the team dynamics where Takeru tries to motivate his friends.

He asks them to think of something worth fighting for since the road to defeat the BETA would be really long.

We find out that the Yokohama Hive had a weird human brain hanging from above in a cave, thousands of feet underground. We also get a little more information about Alternative Plan VI that had something to do with a human child being a source of hopes and dreams for humankind.

It was hinted that maybe Kasumi was the child in question. As the team has completed their training successfully, they’re finally going to become TSF pilots. It’s going to be interesting to see how their strategy to defeat the BETA will turn out.

Episode 4 Speculation

In the previous episode, the BETA had launched an attack on Sado and broken through the coastal defense line. The Imperial Army Division had been deployed, which soon engaged in battle.

Fortunately, they were stopped from reaching the Yokohama HQ, and everyone was safe for now.

Episode 3 Recap

The third episode opens during Operation Venus, where humanity attacked one of BETA’s nests in Yokohama Hive.

The TSFs are sent four thousand feet below ground level to discover any signs of life. There are no humans, but the TSF pilots find something chilling, a human brain hanging through the cave ceiling.

We then cut to the classroom where Takeru breaks Ayamine’s record of loading a gun within one minute and seventeen seconds by loading it in fifty-two seconds.

Later, the group has a little bonding time in the cafeteria, where Takeru asks the girls to think about what they are truly fighting for and what risks they are willing to take. He tells them that to defeat the BETA, they needed strong motivation.

Takeru then visits Kasumi, and their interaction reminds him of Sumika, who does not exist in that world. Takeru and Kasumi visit professor Yoko, who tells him that Kasumi is a valuable asset for Alternative Plan IV.

Takeru asks the professor about the true purpose of the Alternative Plan. Yoko gives him a vague answer that it was a plan to make a human child give humanity dreams and hopes. Takeru asks whether the “human child” was Kasumi but Yoko tells him that further information was confidential.
