The popularity of the original “City Hunter” manga by Tsukasa Hojo has inspired numerous adaptations worldwide.
Takaruzuka Revue’s upcoming musical “Musical City Hunter-Nusumareta XYZ” will pay homage to the original series that became a pop-culture phenomenon. The specialty of this adaptation is that the cast consists of only female actors!
City Hunter follows the adventure of detective Ryo Saeba and his partner Kaori Makimura as they try to solve various crimes throughout Tokyo.
The manga has inspired a Hong Kong film featuring Jackie Chan. A live-action French film, a Japanese TV series, and a Korean drama have been produced based on the original work.
Takaruzuka Revue’s official website teased a visual for “Musical City Hunter-Nusumareta XYZ” on Friday.
The visual depicts Ryo, Kaori, and Mick with the logo of the musical. Downtown Tokyo is visible in the background. Being a musical, we can expect some breathtaking pieces during the live performance.
