Rudeus gets a mysterious letter in episode 4 of Mushoku Tensei Season 2 titled “Letter of Invitation.”

While Rudeus focuses on himself over the course of two years, his magic power continues to remain at the same level. Although his physical strength and body have progressed steadily, he has not explored all areas of magic yet.

The Ranoa University of Magic sends him a letter of invitation after hearing of his reputation as an incredibly powerful adventurer. With some advice from God and Elinalise, Rudeus accepts the offer.

A new arc will begin as Rudeus starts his journey to the Kingdom of Ranoa with Elinalise. Her skills lie primarily in charming men, and she has shown no battle experience so far, although she was a part of Paul’s party.

Considering the dangerous terrain, the two must cross during the winter, they will encounter monster attacks. Rudeus possesses incredible magic power already, so he will likely be able to fend them off and protect Elinalise.

3. Recap

Rudeus goes out into the snowy forests with Paul’s team, using his magic spells to surveil the area. The group hunts down a pack of bears and encounters a dragon attack. Luckily for them, Rudeus has plenty of experience killing dragons.

The following day, Elinalise enters the guild in search of Rudeus. She tells him that she knows Roxy, which captures his interest, and also tells him where Zenith currently is. Since she’s doing well by herself, Rudeus decides to train by himself for a while longer.

Although his physical stature has improved over the months, he still can’t move on from Eris. Elinalise brings a letter from Jenius, the vice president of Roxy’s University of Magic. He offers Rudeus a position in the university thanks to his reputation across the lands.

Rudeus approaches Konrad since he was a student at the same university. He explains that it’s all a publicity stunt since gifted students eventually become famous. Rudeus decides to refuse the offer and focus on reuniting his family first.

He meets God for the first time in two years in another one of his dreams and discusses everything that has happened. He tells Rudeus that he’s wasting his time building muscle and practicing sword swings daily since his magic ability is not improving.

God also warns him not to go to Zenith now and instead enroll in the university and investigate the mass teleportation in Fittoa. The following day, Rudeus thanks all his old party members and begins his journey to the Kingdom of Ranoa.

“Jobless Reincarnation: I Will Seriously Try If I Go To Another World” is an isekai light novel series that was initially published on Shosetsuka ni Naro since November 2012 before Media Factory started publishing under its MF’s Book Imprint in January 2014.
