Episode 23 of Mushoku Tensei served as the finale of season 1 and left us with a bundle of feelings to sort out.
The parallels between Rudeus’s past and present life took up the majority of the episode. The severe bullying that he went through caused him to shut himself in his previous life. In the present one, he has similarly shut himself in his tent.
Still, it was lovely to see how he gets up and figures out what he has to do next. It again reflects on how he did the same last time.
The last episode also gave us a comprehensive view of what Rudeus might do next. The ending credits also served as a nice teaser for what’s to come next.

Rudeus will depart on a journey to search for his mother, Zenith. As Kirishika already said, she is in the Bergarit Continent. She couldn’t figure out the specifics because Zenith is in a labyrinth.
Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei will adapt from volume 7 onwards of the light novel. Rudeus will enroll in the Ranoa Magic University and meet some unexpected people there.
Rudeus’s journey is far from complete, and all of his friends and accomplices will work hard to come back even stronger.
Although Rudeus will have a new adventure, Eris’s memories will haunt him, leaving him lonely and dragging him down. Will he find his love soon?
All in all, episode 23 was a solid ending which not only gave us a conclusion to all the characters’ POVs but also let us know about Rudeus’s departure for a new continent.

After more than half a decade, the light novel series was adapted into an anime television series by Studio Bind in 2021.
