MSI has officially unveiled a mid-range upgrade for Intel’s Z790 motherboards, and the company often refreshes or upgrades existing motherboards instead of waiting for a new series altogether. The MAX series is officially coming to the Z790 platform, making it the first board to receive it. But it won’t be the only board that receives it.
MSI has announced that the Z790 MAX series will be the first motherboards from the vendor to have support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5 GbE LAN connectivity, both of which are next-gen networking technologies. A total of four motherboards will utilize the new MAX design.
The existing non-MAX version features dual 2.5 GbE and Wi-Fi 6E support, so the MAX versions are a significant upgrade. This wasn’t the only motherboard that was revealed at Computex 2023. The B650 Project Zero motherboard was also revealed, with connectors on the back.
The Project Zero motherboard features connectors for fans and other peripherals on the back of it, which makes way for better and more efficient cable management, as claimed by MSI themselves. Here’s the official information about the motherboard:

Of course, these aren’t going to be the only motherboards on the market, as cost-effective alternatives are expected from MSI. But when buying a Z790 motherboard, the MAX series designs are the best that you can get.
