Throughout the season, we wondered who was the main villain of Ms. Marvel. Was it Najma? Was it Kamran? Was it the DODC? Well, the season finale explains it all and gives us a glimpse of what will happen next. Let’s jump right in.
Ms. Marvel ends with the DODC attacking, Kamala, Kamran, and her friends at their school. Kamala helps Kamran escape after he tries to ambush the DODC agents and later we see her warp into Captain Marvel.
The narrative of the final episode was pretty clear. The DODC was out to get the two enhanced individuals, Kamala and Kamran. But the two weren’t alone. Kamala’s friends, Nakia, Zoe, Bruno, and her brother Amir decided to help them.
Kamala called the Red Daggers and asked for help to save Kamran. The Red Daggers agree to do so and ask Kamran to be at the port by midnight. So, until then, the gang decides to hide in their high school and come up with a plan to stall the DODC agents.
Now, I won’t take you through the complete action, because that would take away the zing from the complete sequence. Instead, I’ll focus on some key aspects.
The DODC head P. Cleary instructs Sadie Deever to not attack the kids because that would be bad for their public image. But she decides to break in anyway.
Kamala tells Kamran that his mother died and this infuriates him. His powers seem to compliment that of Kamala. While Kamala’s powers seem to act as shields that protect people, his powers manifest as spikes that destroy things.
It’s perhaps a metaphorical way of showcasing his character and what he could be in the future. In the fight that ensues, Kamala protects everyone while trying to keep him out of harm’s way. In the end, she helps him escape and that’s the end of it.
This shows that the main villain in Ms. Marvel was the DODC and Najma was merely a side villain. But the way things ended with Kamran, it could mean that he would be the next rival Kamala would face.
In the post-credits scene, Kamala warps into something and Captain Marvel appears out of nowhere. The end slate tells the viewers that Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels. So hopefully, we’ll know more about Kamran and the DODC then.
