Ms. Marvel Episode 3 further revealed the origins of Kamala Khan’s powers and the mystery behind the bangle she wears. Now, we all knew that the bangle belonged to Aisha, her great-grandmother. But we didn’t know there was supposed to be a second bangle.
So, where is it, and how will the bangle connect Ms. Marvel to the larger MCU?
The second bangle is still missing, and no one knows its whereabouts. The British army could’ve looted it. However, the bangles could connect Ms. Marvel to Shang-Chi, the Ten Rings, Captain Marvel, and even Inhumans.
The first scene of episode 3 takes us back to India in 1942. Najma, Aisha, and a few others are looking for the bangle. They even find one under all the rubble, but it is on a blue hand. Aisha then reveals that they’ll need two bangles, and one wouldn’t suffice.
This is the story narrated by Najma. However, as we all know, she’s turned on Ms. Marvel, and taking her version of the events at face value wouldn’t be safe. There are a few other things she reveals.
Najma says that their kind is from another dimension known as the Djinn. These Djinns do not age much because of a power called – Noor, which means light. However, since they are in the dimension which has the Earth and essentially the entire universe, they can’t access their Noor.
Najma says they’ve been striving to return to their dimension and hence also call themselves ClanDestines. Kamala can help them with her bangle. The power from it can transport them to their home, but all of this might be dangerous. In fact, it might cause a catastrophe.
While more will be revealed in the upcoming episodes, let’s look at what the bangles really mean and how they could connect to the MCU.
Theory 1: The Blue Hand is that of a Kree
The Kree is a race from a planet called Hala. They’ve appeared before in the MCU as a militaristic organization that aided Ronan in his fight against Peter Quill and his gang in Guardians of the Galaxy. They’ve also appeared in Captain Marvel and were the ones who gave Carol Danvers her powers.
Now, why could the hand be that of the Kree? It’s because Krees are mostly blue-colored humanoids. Considering how the Kree has operated on our planet for so long, it could mean that they have some connection with the bangles and the larger MCU through Captain Marvel.
But wait, there’s more. The Kree are also the reason why Inhumans exist. They created the Inhumans, and this is another connection that potentially exists. None of this is confirmed at this moment, and we might know more in the future.
Theory 2: The Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings Connection
In the Shang-Chi post-credit scene, we saw how the rings were much older than 1000 years and sent signals to an unknown location. While some predicted it to be some form of alien technology, nothing was officially confirmed.
In Ms. Marvel Episode 3, we see an aerial shot of the building while Najma and Aisha look for the bangles. Here we see the ten rings logo with those two swords. Although it’s not as old as 1000 years, it is a clue that could connect these bangles to the Ten Rings.
While these are the two main theories around the bangles, everything is uncertain partly because the creators have drifted far away from the source material. Right from Aisha’s backstory, Kamala Khan’s powers, and a few other things.
So maybe, we’ll Ms. Marvel could connect new dots altogether and bring the larger MCU into the picture in their own way. Until now, we’ve also had connections to the Eternals (via Kingo) and Dr. Erik Selvig (from Thor).
We just have to wait to see how it all unfolds. Ms. Marvel Episode 4 comes out next week Wednesday, and I can’t wait to see what the true origin story is.
