In last week’s episode, James tells the office in a meeting that the I team was able to find a budgetary surplus of nearly $90 million and Neil is thrilled. Arpi immediately pitches her proposal but Neil doesn’t find it appealing enough and asks her to shorten it to a memo. Jayden invites everyone to a murder mystery party at his house and Arpi decides that she’ll use this as an opportunity to finally persuade the Mayor to fund her M.U.D initiative. Mr. Mayor Season 2 Episode 8 Speculation
Jayden’s murder mystery party gets out of hand when Arpi makes Neil admit what he wanted to commit the surplus budget to and Mikaela finally has an outburst asking James why he turned her down if he was on dating apps anyway. To make matters worse, Jayden ends up kissing Neil’s date. The next day, James admits to Mikaela that he’d like to ask her out at some point and Jayden apologizes to Neil.
However, Arpi makes it clear that she does not see eye to eye with the mayor on the space elevator initiative. Will Neil change his mind and decide to use the funds elsewhere?

Jayden invites the office to a murder mystery party he’s hosting at his house. Normally, people would avoid such an event but Arpi agrees to go when she sees that Neil will be in attendance. She hopes to get funding for her proposal as the I team was able to find a budgetary surplus of $90 million to accommodate their fee. Mikaela wonders why James asked to attend the party and talks to Tommy about it, speculating it could have something to do with him being interested in her.
While everyone gets into their characters for the murder mystery party and reads their character cards, Arpi takes the opportunity to present her proposal memo. Neil shoots it down and claims he wants to do something ‘cool’ with the money and Arpi realizes that Neil already has an idea about where he’ll invest the funds. Arpi reminds him of all the times she stopped him from making a reckless decision inviting bad optics for the office.
Arpi then speaks to Mikaela and inquires if the mayor took any off-schedule meetings that afternoon and offers to help her figure out James’ intentions if she gives her the information.
Arpi then asks James if it was him that suggested that the mayor meets with Sebastian Felix. Arpi declares that Neil is simply going to fund another initiative to gentrify LA but Neil clarifies that he was actually going to fund a ‘space elevator’ which would be the future of space travel, according to him.
