Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release soon. Developers NetherRealm and creator Ed Boon are dropping teasers and videos, adding fan-favorite characters to Mortal Kombat 1’s roster.
The latest introductions to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster are Reptile, Ashrah, and Havik. They were revealed in the new “Banished” trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, released at the EVO 2023.
They are categorized as Banished because they were shunned from their respective societies for various reasons. The Reptile was banished because he could take on the human form.
The trailer also highlighted the reformed Netherrealm Demon, Ashrah, whom we saw in Mortal: Kombat Deception. The other introduction is the Chaos realm cleric, Havik.
Fans are overjoyed at the inclusion of these characters in Mortal Kombat 1’s rosters. Many have been hoping and requesting the developers for Reptile’s inclusion in the roster.

Reptile, first seen in 1992’s original Mortal Kombat as a secret boss, has won fans with his character design and moves. Since its initial appearance, Reptile has appeared in all the Mortal Kombat characters either as playable or to make cameo appearances.
One of the most exciting powers shown for the Reptile is his Invisibility, after which he snaps and consumes the enemy, bathing them in a pool of acid, vanquishing them.
The trailer also showed that shapeshifting assassin Sareena will appear as a Kameo fighter alongside Havik.
All the characters have their backstories brutally altered. This is because of the reshaped world they reside in, as created by Fire God Liu Kang.
This is even more evident in the case of Reptile – a character who was introduced as a villain and is now shown to be working alongside the good guys in the new trailer.
Fans expect more insight into the gameplay and powers of the characters, including Reptile. As the release date of September 19th inches closer, more content is expected, and players can’t wait to lay their hands on the blood and mess of Mortal Kombat 1.
About Mortal Kombat 1
Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
