The January issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ magazine announced that Yōsuke Saita’s Moriarty The Patriot novels are receiving a manga adaptation. The manga titled Yūkoku no Moriarty: The Remains will be illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi and will launch in the magazine’s April 2023 issue.
The manga will adapt episodes from the novels and the character side stories. Thus far, the Moriarty franchise consists of three novels. The novels were published in November 2018, November 2019, and October 2020.
The story’s protagonist is James Moriarty, the well-known antagonist of Sir Arthur Canon Doyle’s Sherlock Homes series. In the manga, he is an orphan who assumes the name William James Moriarty on being adopted by the Moriarty family along with his younger brother.
From a young age, Moriarty seeks to remove the ills caused by England’s class system.
The original manga by Ryōsuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi ended its first part with an arc named “Valley of Fellows” in the January issue of Jump SQ. The arc was named after Sir Arthur Canon Doyle’s fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel The Valley Of Fear.
The original manga was launched in August 2016 and Shueisha published the manga’s 18th compiled book volume on August 4.
The Moriarty novels have also inspired a television anime series that premiered in October 2020 and had a total of 24 episodes.
