‘Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kōjō’ (Alice and Therese’s Illusory Factory) is set in a town that is succumbing to monotony and mundanity. An explosion in the steelworks factory has blocked all the exits, and people are forbidden to change, so they must ordinarily live out their lives.
The story focuses on a third-year middle school student Masamune and his classmate Atsumi. They visit a blast furnace and meet a girl who cannot talk and behaves like a wild animal.
On Sunday, MAPPA announced more details for the original film ‘Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kōjō’ at its Stage Event 2023. The studio revealed a new teaser, the voice cast, the story introduction, and the release date of September 15.
The short video gives a view of the factory. The scene then shifts to the sky cracking with a green neon light. The rest of the video shows a strong wind causing chaos all over the town.
MAPPA has revealed three voice artists that would play the main characters:

In the new visual below, a girl is displayed with her back towards the front, and her hand blocks the light from reaching her face. The small text at the top reads, “Don’t approach this girl.”
The film was originally announced in 2021 with Mari Okada as the original creator. Okada is also novelizing the film that will be published by Kadokawa Bunko on June 13. Following are the main staff members working on the film:

The movie gives off a strong vibe of Makoto Shinkai’s ‘Suzume’ with strong winds, two protagonists belonging to opposite sexes, and mysterious happenings. The animation by MAPPA is excellent, but a little more revelation about the story would have been great.
