Egyptian God Khonshu Looks Terrifying in New Moon Knight Images

Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight has taken over the latest issue of Empire Magazine and with it come new never before seen images.

One of these images that’s gotten everyone excited over the new Disney+ series is the Khonshu reveal. If you have watched the official trailer, you might already be aware the Egyptian god of Moon will be an integral part of the story.

The first reveal image only makes his presence even stronger as he’s seen in a hallway with a crescent moon staff in hand, his mummy-esque wrapped clothing flowing behind him like a cape.

Twitter user @cmbmasters posted the still from the Empire issue, and the hallway he’s standing in seems like a part of the museum that Marc Spector works at. Khonshu’s look is comic-accurate, with a long beak on his skull-like head.

Another image revealed Khonshu’s beak structure from the side as it appears to be floating onto his shoulders with delicate thread-like lines connecting it to his body. This image gives us the opposite perspective as Spector stands at the far end of the corridor.

As the god of Moon is often depicted as a falcon in Egyptian hieroglyphics, this image shows that the series will take a lot of inspiration from the original mythology, similar to previous merch reveals.

This comes just a few days after the Big Game TV Spot for Moon Knight teased a reveal and showed only the lower half of Khonshu as he stood behind a distressed Steven Grant/Marc Spector.

Oscar-winning actor F. Murray Abraham is going to voice the Egyptian deity, and his deep, heavy voice will surely make Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight obey any orders Khonshu has for him.

In the Empire feature, Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealed that the series will not hold back onto its dark tones.

He’s brutal. It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do. There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.

Moon Knight premieres exclusively on Disney+ on March 30.
