La Casa De Papel Introduces 3 New Characters Including Berlin’s Son

The final season of La Casa De Papel, aka Money Heist, is almost here. So naturally, Netflix decided to build the hype by unveiling information on the new characters we saw in the official trailer.

The official Instagram account released short clips of new characters that go by the names of René, Rafael, and Commander Sagasta. Netflix also tweeted stills of these characters alongside the members of the gang that they relate to.

Spanish actor Miguél Ángel Silvestre will play René. According to the caption, he is ‘a ghost from the past’, so I’m 99 percent sure he is Tokyo’s previous boyfriend.

If we go back to the very beginning of the show, Tokyo narrates, “My name is Tokio. But when this story began, it wasn’t. This was me… and this, the love of my life. The last time I saw him, I left him in a pool of blood with his eyes open.”

LCDP is pretty big on flashbacks. After all, that’s how they have managed to keep Berlin alive throughout the show. So, most probably, we would get to see how the bank robbery that had gone wrong unfolded.

Speaking of Berlin, he apparently has a son. Even after death, this man keeps on surprising everyone.

Berlin’s son, Rafael, is played by Patrick Criado. According to Netflix, Rafael is 31 years old, has studied computer engineering at MIT in Massachusetts, and is adamant about one thing — he doesn’t want to be like his father.

The clip, however, calls him ‘the prodigal son,’ so Rafael, are you sure you won’t follow your father’s path towards a certain Bank in Spain where people wearing Dali masks are locked in?

There is another character who fans will just LOVE to hate. Sagasta, Commander of the Special Forces of the Spanish Army, played by José Manuel Seda, is here to wreck things up for the gang.

He will supposedly one up Gandia for the most annoying character department. Sagasta and two other personnel were called ‘Gandia’s reinforcements.’

The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan.

Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.

About Money Heist

Money Heist (Spanish: La casa de papel, meaning “The House of Paper”) is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Álex Pina.

The series traces two long-prepared heists led by the Professor (Álvaro Morte), one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain. The narrative is told in a real-time-like fashion and relies on flashbacks, time-jumps, hidden character motivations, and an unreliable narrator for complexity.

The show focuses on the meticulous plans and the specific contingencies of the Professor who has prepared his group of robbers dressed in red jumpsuits and Dali masks.
