Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will be officially launched on April 12th. This season is aimed at bringing several balance adjustments and bug fixes. It is designed keeping in mind the valuable feedback provided by players over the last two seasons.
Activision confirmed the return of the fan-favorite Intervention rifle coming back as the FJX Imperium. Other than that, two popular Modern Warfare 2 characters will cross paths in a long-awaited face off. Season 3 will also introduce an improved Ricochet anti-cheat system.
The anti-cheat system will act as a firewall against cheaters and third-party tools which offer an unfair advantage to some players. These are all efforts to establish a level playing field for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
Team Ricochet reiterates its zero-tolerance policy by permanently banning those found cheating, purging banned accounts from Ranked Play top 150, and accordingly adjusting Skill Rating for players who often encountered cheaters. Clearly, with every season, the developers seem to strengthen security measures.
A new “Replay Investigation” tool will be introduced in Season 3 which will allow Team Ricochet to review match data during the investigation process so that fair action is taken against the player. This tool will be used to identify and study cheating practices in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 from this point on.
Apart from this, third-party hardware device detection will also be active in Season 3. This has been tried and tested already so that the tool is ready for deployment in time for the final launch.
Users will receive a warning message from the game when an unsupported device is detected. Continued usage will result in subsequent warnings, in-game mitigations, account suspensions, and account bans.
The current active mitigations in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 include:
- Cloaking: Hides legitimate players from cheaters
- Disarm: Removes weapons and equipment from the cheater
- Damage Shield: Provides protective barrier against cheaters.
There are even more “surprises” in store for cheaters in Season 3 so make sure to keep an eye out!
Season 3 will be a major milestone for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. It will introduce some highly requested anti-cheat measures which are expected to be very efficient. With the elimination of cheaters, players can actually enjoy the gaming experience and the new content for Season 3.
