Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 8, titled “The World’s Only (Insert Phrase You Like Here),” aired this week.

So far, Fafnir had asked Lucoa to lend him her power. He wanted her to be a model for his vulgar art. Kobayashi explained why humans sleep to Tohru, who is not used to sleeping. Kanna and her friends also went out ghost-hunting. 

Then we saw Shouta giving it his all to prepare a gift for Father’s day. Meanwhile, Tohru went out of her way to find particular medicines to cure Kobayashi’s flu.

Episode 9 Speculations and Discussions

Episode 9 is titled “There Are Various Reasons Behind It (It’s Full of Elma).”

From the preview at the end of episode 8, I can say with certainty that Elma will be under the spotlight for the next episode.

We will get to see a more detailed view of Elma’s life. I’m sure her life is not all carefree and fun just because she is a dragon. 

There have to be moments when she is not content with how things are and would want to change that. Hopefully, she talks to Kobayashi or Tohru or someone whom she considers close to clear out her doubts.

No, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is not on break this week. Episode 9 is set to air as scheduled. No delay has been announced.

Recap of Episode 8

Episode 8, titled “The World’s Only (Insert Phrase You Like Here),” starts with Shouta wanting to gift his father something meaningful for Father’s day.

He checks out the internet to find a talisman at a reasonable rate. He wants his gift to be something special, so that his father acknowledges his presence. 

Lucoa offers to help him, but he blatantly rejects it as he wants to do it himself. Since most of the talismans online are really expensive, Shouta decides to make one himself.

After failing multiple times, he talks to Takiya and Fafnir about it, and they tell him to think out of the box. He then tries again and succeeds in giving it to his father, who praises him. 

Meanwhile, Kobayashi has fallen ill and is unable to go to work. Tohru asks Takiya what she should do to make Kobayashi feel better, and he tells her to nurse Kobayashi.

She proceeds to prepare easily digestible food items for Kobayashi, which is a disaster, yet Kobayashi eats it out of consideration. 

Tohru feels like Kobayashi’s condition is deteriorating and decides to go to a different world to acquire the appropriate medicines. 

In the meantime, Kobayashi gets better after taking a nap. Tohru then arrives with the medicine and Kobayashi notices that Tohru went through a lot to acquire it and she ingests it without even questioning her. 

As a result, she finds herself with whiskers and cat ears the next day as she was given medicines fit for beasts. 

The episode ends with Take and Illulu travelling throughout town to return an abandoned soft toy to its rightful owner.  

About Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a Slice of life, fantasy, comedy manga written and illustrated by Cool-Kyou Shinja. The manga began serialization in Monthly Action magazine from May 25, 2013.

It revolves around Kobayashi, a stoic programmer. While on her way to work, Kobayashi gets frightened after seeing the head of a dragon. Staring at her, the dragon immediately transforms into a young girl dressed in a maid outfit.

Introducing herself as Tooru, she reminds Kobayashi of her offer to stay in her home while she was drunk the previous night. Regretting her decision, she agrees to Tooru’s request to work as a personal maidservant to repay the debt for a shelter.
