Sometimes people with whom you have no blood relation can feel like home. The protagonists of the upcoming anime film, Misaki no Mayoiga, can attest to this feeling.
It is a story of how three complete strangers meet at the crossroads of life and decide to accompany each other. Each is searching for their place in the world, and maybe a mysterious communal house overlooking the seaside has their answer?
Misaki no Mayoiga or The Abandoned House by the Cape is an anime movie by studio David Production that will premiere in theatres on 27th August. It has adapted the novel of the same name by Sachiko Kashiwaba.
A new trailer has also been revealed for the film.
The trailer shows Yui and Hiyori, two girls who have taken shelter at an old communal house under the care of an old lady, Kiwa. Mayoiga is an abandoned but well-kept house in the wilderness from Japanese folklores.
Our protagonists will stay at a house that resembles a Mayoiga. Yui and Hiyori changed their names along with their lives when they arrived. The Great East Japan Earthquake has brought them together, and now we have to see how they live on.

Takuya Tasso is the governor of the Iwate prefecture, and the film is a part of a project to promote Iwate. The “Zutto Ōen Project 2011 + 10…” focuses on promoting Iwate, Fukushima, and Miyagi after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
Two previous anime have already been produced for the project. Bakuten !! was set in the Miyagi prefecture, and Hulla Fulla Dance was set in the Fukushima prefecture.
Misaki no Mayoiga is a journey of individuals that merge at a single house. Now we have to wait and see how the anime film makes us fall in love with Iwate and life.
