Will Seanchai Return to The Witcher Franchise?

Minnie Driver from The Witcher: Blood Origin has recently spoken about the possibility of her mysterious elf character returning to the franchise.

In the prequel miniseries, Driver played Seanchai, an elf who saves Jaskier and urges him to continue telling the story of the seven warriors who were involved in creating the first Witcher before the Conjunction of the Spheres. While the majority of the show takes place 1,200 years prior to the events of The Witcher, some characters may have a future in the series.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant about The Lesser Dead audio drama, Minnie Driver discussed the potential future of Seanchai, her mystery elf character in The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Although she mentioned that she hasn’t had any concrete discussions about returning to the Witcher franchise, she spoke positively about her experience working on the prequel miniseries and expressed her desire to reprise her role at some point in the future.

Here’s what Driver said –

Yeah, it was so cool creating that character. They’re very smart to create a character who can move through dimensions and time, so they could use her, like, I think it would be great, I would love to. I haven’t heard anything subsequently, but I feel like that’s something that could happen at any time, that if the writers go, “Oh, we need a character, we need Seanchai to come in and connect these things,” it would be great. It’s always fun being part of a fantastic universe with a huge fan base, it’s a cracking show, so yeah, I’d love to do that, we’ll see if that happens.

Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner of The Witcher, had expressed interest in delving deeper into Minnie Driver’s character even before the series was released. Hissrich had even mentioned that the character’s name was never officially disclosed in the prequel

She had also revealed that discussions were underway in the writer’s room for the fourth season of The Witcher, with plans to “reintroduce the character,” along with Jacob Collins-Levy’s Eredin, the commander of the Xin’trean army, and Samuel Blenkin’s young mage, Avallac’h.

Hissrich has expressed interest in bringing back Minnie Driver’s character for The Witcher season 4. It’s highly possible that her character’s reunion with Jaskier will be the main plotline, but whether it will be a positive or negative one remains uncertain.

In season 2 of The Witcher, Jaskier is being pursued by Vizimir’s advisor Dijkstra, possibly to atone for his role in smuggling elves out of Redania. As the king is also seeking Ciri, it’s plausible that he may try to coerce Jaskier into helping him obtain both the Cintran princess and Geralt, her protector.

Minnie Driver’s Seanchai could potentially return in The Witcher through time travel or dimension hopping, as hinted by both Driver herself and Hissrich. There are already speculations about Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt in season 4 through dimension hopping, which could involve Seanchai as well.
