Mike White, the mastermind behind The White Lotus, has not ruled out the possibility of an “all-star season.”
The hit HBO show takes us to the exotic locations of the White Lotus resort chain, where murder and mayhem lurk beneath the surface. The only characters who have appeared in both seasons so far are Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) and her spouse Greg (Jon Gries).
However, fans can look forward to seeing Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), the season 1 spa manager, in the third installment of The White Lotus.
Mike White teased the idea of an “all-star season” in a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter.
The show has earned White several Emmys for writing and directing every episode and has gained even more clout because of its iconic returning characters and subtle easter eggs.
White says he would love to see some of the most popular characters from previous seasons come together in a future season. Here’s what he had to say:
It would be easy to just be a full-on anthology, but I think it’s more fun to have little threads through the show. If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season.
The one character everyone would love to see again in “The White Lotus: All-Stars” is the hilarious Tanya McQuoid, played by the Emmy-winning Jennifer Coolidge.
However, that seems impossible since Tanya met her watery doom in the season 2 finale.
White says he might bring back Tanya’s sneaky husband, Greg, in a future season, probably to show what happens to him after he plots to kill his wife and take her money.
Shane and Rachel, the season 1 couple who stayed together despite their issues, could also come back for an all-star season. Jake Lacy and Alexandra Daddario played them brilliantly, and their choice was very divisive. The Mossbacher family from season 1 would also be hard to miss in an all-star season.
Season 2 leaves us wondering what will happen to the couples Cameron (Theo James) and Daphne (Meghann Fahy), and Ethan (Will Sharpe) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza), who got mixed up in each other’s lives.
An all-star season of The White Lotus would be a great way to find out.
